Tales from Jamesburg

This is from a series of letters written to his grandson in the mid 1950s. In the handwritten letters he sometimes inserted the Badasci brand instead of using the name. I have used B for that because that is what it resembles.

Our school house was small, had only one room and stood off to one side of a small valley where a little side Creek ran into the main Smith Creek. It stood on a ranch that was owned by a man by the name of Mr. Badasci. We all called him Mr. “Ba-dash”. His cattle brand was a big B with a dash through the middle of it like this: B.
